International Women's Day (IWD) is a global day in celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action to create a diverse, equitable, and inclusive world. Groups come together worldwide to celebrate women's achievements, raise awareness against bias, and take action for women's equality!
The Two Maine Mermaids annual International Women’s Day Celebration & Ocean Dip (now, the Women's Wave!), is an event where we gather celebrate the strength, power, and capacity of women by walking hand-in-hand into Maine’s cold ocean. This year, our goal is to have 1,000 dippers line all 2,100 feet of Willard Beach’s shoreline making a bold statement in support of women.
